Because we understand that additional services might be needed, at OSEA we are proud to provide an elective surgery service for your horse. From the minute the patient comes into the hospital, to the happy moment that they go home to you, a dedicated team will evaluate and monitor your horse to make sure that the pre-, intra-, and post-operative periods are carried on with the highest standards of care. 

When the time of surgery comes, we will prepare the patient thoroughly and take him/her to our induction/recovery stall. The stall has heavily padded walls and a padded floor to make sure that the induction is smooth, and the complications are reduced as much as possible while the horse drops under general anesthesia. From there, teamwork is the main premise to make sure that the horse is placed on the surgical table in the most appropriate manner for the procedure. 

We have a dedicated group that is prepared with the equipment and technology to provide an anesthetic episode under the best standard of care. Our surgeon, interns, technicians, and hospital staff involved will work to make sure the surgery is carried on effectively and in a timely fashion. Your horse will be placed in the induction/recovery stall and will be closely monitored by the surgery team that is ready to provide the support needed to make sure he/she stands up and can safely walk back to the stall. We have video-camera monitoring in our induction/recovery stall, and we also have the ability to monitor their stay with camera surveillance if the patient needs to spend the night at the clinic. All this striving to provide the best level of care possible for your horse. 

Our surgical suite is prepared with state-of-the-art equipment to perform minimally invasive procedures (arthroscopy, laparoscopy), soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic procedures. At OSEA we also have the capacity to perform surgery under standing sedation when the procedure requires it, avoiding the complications of general anesthesia.
